Fraunhofer Project Center for Composites Research @ UNIST(FPC @ UNIST) is the nation’s first fraunhofer branch affiliated research institute with the approval of german fraunhofer headquarters and established on 1 May 2016. The branch centre of the Fraunhofer ICT(Institute for Chemical Technology) which holds the world’s highest level of technology in the field of polymer and composite materials molding, leading to the development of automotive structural composite design and high speed molding technology. Following the establishment of the FPC @ Western Canada, Ontario established a second branch we are willing to play the role of the Asian composites technology supply base.

With the Mecca of the automotive industry, Ulsan that secure the active interest and support of the local government about this project was identified as the best place for the Korea branch, as well as was able to establish Korea branch through aggressive investment by the central government. And then with the research capabilities and challenge the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), confident that it will be leading institution in lightweight technology.

Build the foundation which can support the development of fiber reinforced composite parts high speed molding technology in Ulsan which the industry of automotive parts is integrated, domestic enterprises stay global competitiveness by securing proprietary technology, ultimately we will do our best to perform the role of automotive composite production technology supply base.
