Equipment description
Carbonization is carried out in the temperature range of 350~1400oC to remove the non-carbon atoms, and to develop the structure and mechanical properties. The graphitization is carried out at a temperature higher than 2000oC to form graphitic structure and well-oriented structure. The graphitized fibers have a super high tensile modulus.
The continuous carbonization equipment consists of low/high/super high temperature oven, surface treatment and sizing equipment. This equipment helps to understanding macro- and micro- scale properties of carbon fiber and it is effect to optimize manufacturing carbon fiber in industry.
Through the carbonization process research, it is possible to manufacture high performance carbon fiber as well as to reduce the price of carbon fiber, and it is expected to commercialize the carbon fiber from the aerospace industry to automobiles and real-life products.
